10 things that damage the brain

Brain that controls every inch of our bodies. The brain is one of the vital organs in our body. It should we keep our property well as thinking beings. But sometimes we unconsciously actually damage the brain slowly. What cause? Our bad habits can damage the brain itself. Here are 10 bad habits that can damage the brain, such as:

1. No Breakfast
Those who do not eat breakfast have lower blood sugar levels, which consequently supply of nutrients to the brain becomes less.

2. Smoke
Inhaled substances in cigarettes would lead to rapid brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer's disease.

3. Overeat
Too much to eat, let alone a high fat content, can lead to hardening of blood vessels in the brain because of accumulation of fat in the blood vessel wall. As a result the ability of the brain will decrease.

4. Air Pollution
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain so it can decrease the efficiency of the brain.

5. Sleep Deprivation
The brain needs sleep as a time to rest and recover her abilities. Lack of sleep for a long time will accelerate the damage to brain cells.

6. Consuming too much sugar
Consumption of too much sugar will cause disruption of the absorption of proteins and nutrients, causing nutritional imbalances that would interfere with brain development

7. Head covered while sleeping
The habit of sleeping with the head covered increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that can cause brain damage effects.

8. Using mind when ill
Working too hard or forced to use our minds when you're sick can lead to reduced effectiveness of the brain and can damage the brain.

9. Rarely communicates
Communication is needed as one means accelerate the ability of the brain. Communicating intellectually can trigger brain efficiency. Rare intellectual ability to communicate will cause the brain to be less well trained.

10. Less stimulate the mind
Thinking is the best way to train our brain. Lack of stimulation in the brain can cause brain mengkerutnya us.

so, it's better if we avoid the things mentioned above for our good. Take Care

Japan bans planting rice in radioactive soil

TOKYO — Fears of radiation spread to rice as the planting season began in Japan, prompting the government to ban its cultivation in contaminated soil as fallout leaking from a tsunami-damaged nuclear plant dealt another blow to the national diet

Vegetables and milk were the first foods that sparked concerns about the safety of Japanese agriculture after the March 11 tsunami flooded the nuclear plant and its reactors began to overheat and spew radiation. But those worries intensified when highly radioactive water was spotted gushing from the complex into the Pacific and contaminated fish showed up in catches.
Those concerns have abated somewhat after the leak was plugged and bans on produce from some areas were lifted.
But rice has now come under the microscope as the planting season begins in April and May.
"We had to come up with a policy quickly because we are in planting season," said Agriculture Minister Michihiko Kano, who announced the ban Friday.
The ban will apply to any soil found to contain high levels of radioactive cesium, and farmers who cannot grow rice will be compensated. Rice grown in uncontaminated soil will be screened.
Yoshiyuki Ueda, a 47-year-old rice farmer from the town of Futaba, where the damaged nuclear plant is located, said he had already given up on trying to plant this year's crop because of radiation fears.
"The ground is ruined," Ueda said. "I think it will be a long time until things return to normal."
Rice is revered in Japanese culture, and the word for cooked rice, "gohan," also means meal. It's the key ingredient in sake, and citizens proudly buy locally grown varieties.
Plant workers have spent the past month frantically trying to stop radiation from spewing by restoring cooling systems, but they still have a long way to go. Radiation in water pooling around the plant has slowed the efforts to stabilize the reactors, but workers made progress Saturday toward cleaning up that contamination.
In an unusual — and controversial — plan, engineers decided earlier this month to deliberately pump less contaminated water into the ocean from a storage facility they thought might make a good receptacle for the more highly radioactive water.
That dump is expected to finish Sunday, and technicians already are beginning to ensure that the building is watertight, according to nuclear safety agency spokesman Hidehiko Nishiyama.
"We cannot afford a lot of time" in completing this process, Nishiyama said, but he did not say how long it would take.
The Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency approved those moves as "an unavoidable emergency step," Nishiyama said.
Several areas of the plant are difficult to reach because of radiation. On Saturday, two 190,000-pound (86,000-kilogram) concrete pumps that have been retrofitted to spray water and can be operated by remote control were on their way to the plant from Atlanta and Los Angeles.
The plant operator, Tokyo Electric Power Co., is also hoping to use T-Hawk drone aircraft made by Honeywell to inspect areas of the plant it cannot access. The drone can be operated from six miles (10 kilometers) away and transmit video and still images.
Until reactors are stabilized, radiation will continue to be released. Earlier, high levels of seawater contamination around the plant prompted the nation that gave the world sushi to set limits for the first time on the amount of radiation permitted in fish. Concerns about food have led several countries, most recently China, to ban imports of some items from Japan.
Rice may be particularly vulnerable to absorbing radiation because it has a long growing season.
So far, soil containing cesium that exceeds the new limit has been found in only two places in Iitate, a village about 25 miles (40 kilometers) from the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear complex.
Japan produced 8.5 million tons of rice in 2010, almost all for domestic consumption. It exported just 1,900 tons for sale last year, with Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan the top recipients. It imported about 664,000 tons last year.
Fukushima, home to the radiation-leaking plant, was the nation's fourth-largest rice producing prefecture (state) last year.
Experts say people would have to eat enormous quantities of produce or dairy products before receiving even the amount of radiation contained in a CT scan, but cesium is a concern because it can build up in the body and high levels are thought to be a risk for various cancers.

Quitting Smoking: Nicotine Relapse Prevention And Recovery

Instantaneous relapse occurs when you start smoking because something unexpected occurs. The unexpected situation can occur while on vacation, in the midst of having a great time, or it can be during a new and unusual stressful situation. An example of this is where you are out with friends having a great time, maybe alcohol is involved and out of nowhere someone offers you a cigarette and you take one. Or you come home from work and find your pet is very ill and needs immediate attention. You remember you kept a pack in the cupboard and light one up.
Planned Relapse
You finally did it; you stopped smoking, got through the craving, withdrawal and habit stages and have been smoke free for some time. But lately and for no apparent reason you have been thinking about cigarettes. Then one day you decide to buy a pack, you know they aren't good for you, but you buy them anyway. In the back of your mind you have convinced yourself that by now you can control it or maybe you convinced yourself a few won't hurt or maybe you will be able to ration them and have a few at a time. You bought the cigarettes and now you are playing a mental tug or war game. Part of you say's don't do it; the other part says a few can't hurt. Finally you lose the tug of war and give in; you have the first one and all bets are off.
Latent Relapse Potential
Latent relapse potential is something you need to be aware of because it can sneak up on you when you are least expecting it. You just found out you are pregnant and you instantly quit smoking and can't believe how easy it was or you stopped smoking before you took a long vacation and you feel great about beating smoking. When something as exciting as a pregnancy occurs you can be so excited you stop instantly but the day after the baby is born some women find themselves right back at it wondering what hit them. The same goes for a long vacation or a hospital stay. While on vacation or in the hospital you didn't miss smoking. You are away from your normal routine and have been smoke free all along, you return home only to find everything was just as you left it. Knowing that latent relapse potential exists will help you to develop your reentry strategy after giving birth or returning from a vacation or a hospital stay.
Relapse Recovery
Relapse recovery is all about stopping again quickly. The sooner you stop again after that first smoke the higher the probability you will return to being smoke free. When you decide to have one you are at a fork in the road and you have a very important and timely choice to make. One fork is where you continue to smoke. The other fork is where you stop right then and don't have another one. If you happen to have one don't panic, don't give in and don't fall into the trap of thinking you can control your intake of cigarettes. Get right back onto that horse don't light up another cigarette and never look back, the sooner you stop again the more likely you will succeed again.
People who convince themselves that they will quit again some time in the future may find they are still smoking a decade later.
Relapse Prevention
When it comes to quitting smoking and relapse prevention an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. To protect yourself against relapse:
Expect the Unexpected
Mentally preparing yourself for unexpected or unusual events and situations can prevent you from relapsing. Weddings, family and school reunions, buck and does are events that don't occur everyday and are events that increase vulnerability.  If you are planning to attend one of these events just think ahead or back to what normally happens. At some point smokers will go out for a smoke and you need to have your personal plan in place before you get there. If someone invites you out for a smoke, simply reply, "No thanks I don't feel like one".
You can't control it
The tongue in cheek definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. When it comes to thinking you can have one or that you can manage and control your cigarette consumption, you are deluding yourself. If you are smoking again after quitting you know this to be the case. Some people relapse because they start off with just one cigarette, thinking they can control it, but usually don't stop there.  Statistically the odds are against you controlling your smoking to one or two a day.
Get rid of cigarettes.
Your personal relapse prevention strategy should include getting rid of any remaining cigarettes and smoking paraphernalia in your own way. Some plan their quitting by getting rid of ashtrays, detailing their car or work vehicle and smoking the last one the day they stop. Some wrap their cigarettes in shipping tape so they can't get at them. Some bury them in the back yard. Do what feels right for you, but make sure you have a plan to say good-bye once and for all to your cigarettes, cigars or pipe tobacco and smoking paraphernalia.
Manage chronic stress
Sudden and unexpected stress can catch you off guard, while chronic stress can make the job of quitting smoking tougher. Chronic stress occurs where you have something, somebody or a job that is constantly causing you to feel uptight and maybe out of control. When it comes to chronic stress you have two choices, eliminate the cause or learn to cope and manage your stress.
Eliminating the cause is the preferred solution but is not always possible. Chronic stress can cause you to secrete cortisol a stress hormone. Normally a good thing, when cortisol is present over a sustained period of time it can be damaging to your health, compromise your immune system and can lead to serious disease. If you can't change the cause of the stress in your life you will need to find news ways to mange or reduce the effects of chronic stress to your body and mind.
Managing stress involves finding healthy outlets that allow you to temporarily get some relief. For some people this means going to a gym and working out the frustrations with weights and cardio exercise. Some people find yoga, or mediation will give them relief while other people turn to a new hobby or learning to play an instrument. Whatever you choose make sure you enjoy it.
If you wish to further your knowledge on managing stress several books on the subject entitled "The Relaxation Response" by Herbert Benson M.D.  and "Natural Highs" by Hyla Cass M.D. may help you  to understand and adopt new ways to feel good without cigarettes.

Avoid Junk Food and Smoking

The junk food has replaced all the nutritious food such as fruits and vegetables from our meal at the same time smoking has added killing poison for our health. Due to the shortage of these fruits and vegetables, heavy oily foods is leading people close to various serious diseases such as the breast cancer, colorectal, lung and prostate cancer have become normal in today’s lifestyle. Experts are conducting many research and some figures have shown that  6-7 percent of cancer is can be cured and if the patient takes proper diet there are chances of 3-4 percent he will be cured, by making awareness to avoid extra fat and quiting smoking or avoiding using the same cigarettes twice  can save another 3 percent. It is a true assumption that running after modernization and eating more junk foods  and smoking for the symbol of liberalization is causing us lack of fiber, vitamins, minerals and other chemical which can only be provided by fruits and vegetables.

If a person is taking only 150 grams vegetables daily and if he increases it up by 400 grms he can convert his speed towards lung cancer as low as 50%  and adding all kinds of lettuce, dark green vegetables and fruits can  make him live a preventive life from any sever diseases. It should be made compulsion at home that every adult will consume 3 vegetables and 2 fruits containing dark green or deep yellow.

What is Electronic Cigarette

Electronic cigarette is a completely non-flammable product that uses state of the art sophisticated micro-electronic technology to provide users a real smoking experience without the tobacco and tar for immediately release.

Electronic cigarette is a completely non-flammable product that uses state of the art sophisticated micro-electronic technology to provide users a real smoking experience without the tobacco and tar found in real cigarettes. As you inhale, a tiny battery vaporizes liquid inside the cigarette producing a smoke like vapor.
It looks like a cigarette, it tastes like a cigarette, it feels like a cigarette, but it isn't a cigarette, it is considerably MUCH BETTER and MUCH HEALTHY than traditional cigarette.
E-Cigarettes offer smokers many features over smoking traditional cigarettes. The main reasons people use E-Cigarette include: a tar-free way to smoke, freedom to smoke most anywhere and everywhere, does not create first or second hand smoke, no smoke or tobacco odor, non-flammable, convenient and cheaper than traditional cigarettes (based on one pack per day smoker). And it is reusable (rechargeable by an electric outlet or car charger) so there is no problem with disposing of cigarette buds .So it makes people enjoy smoking experience and emotional feeling without harmful effects .
A device by any other name – the electronic cigarette, e-cigarette, smokeless cigarette or electric ciggie, this amazing invention has filled a niche market which could draw the ire of none except, perhaps, parents concerned about their children’s being attracted to what might be perceived as “safe” smoking.

But the electronic cigarette has represented an amazing breakthrough for “second class citizens” in their battle with the anti-tobacco lobby. Now suddenly there is scope for co-existence in concert without any apparent serious downside. True, the e-ciggie does produce nicotine as such, but without the 4000-odd harmful chemicals in a conventional cigarette. This is significant, as the smoker can feel less guilt about his indulgence, and the non-smoker alongside him knows there’s no problem with second-hand smoke. That’s because the e-cig cartridge contains liquid nicotine, which is heated super-fast by a battery-powered atomiser every time you puff. What the smoker actually draws in is a tar-free and odourless vapour, which also contains no carbon monoxide, and the faint e-cig vapour dissipates within seconds.
The girls will love the electronic cigarette, as it’s available in a range of flavours including, cherry, chocolate, menthol and cappuccino. Most intriguingly, though, is the vapour-producing ingredient – propylene glycol.
